The documentary War is not for Children is a follow-up on Like Birds in a Cage, in which we meet the refugee boy Dalibor. Two years have passed and the war is over. The now 12-year-old Dalibor and his sister Daliborka are living at a home for war children in a small town in the ‘idyllic’ mountains of Bosnia, where no one welcomes mixed-marriage Bosnian/Serb children.
The children’s father is still alive, but he lives in the enemy country of Serbia. Dalibor does not want to talk about his father, as everyone around him speaks about Serbians as evil. Even so, both children dream of finding their father of whom they have no more than a faint recollection. But can he be found? Without showing a single act of war, this documentary shows the human cost of war. War is not for Children is part two of the trilogy on Children of war, which also include Like Birds in a Cage and Free as a bird.
