Bent Melchior - October 1943
Chief Rabbi of Denmark Bent Melchior (1929-2021) meets the students at Bagsværd high school and talks about his escape to Sweden during WW II.

Madsen´s Hotel
A portrait of Mr. Madsen, who makes his living by running a hotel for refugees. Mr. Madsen is a Dane, who has seen great possibilities in the number of refugees arriving to Denmark. He has bought an old hotel, where refugees from all over the world are guests. He presents his own highly individual views on the way mankind behaves and how the world is put together.
Iboja survived Auschwitz
Iboja Wandall-Holm survived the Auschwitz concentration camp. At the time of the WW-II large groups of the population moved around in Europe, especially Jews who fled from Nazism. Iboja Wandall-Holm was born in Slovakia and spent her youth in the concentration camp, Auschwitz, where she learned that "human beings only have a very thin layer of civilisation; they can very quickly become monsters".
Julia born in Ukraine
In the beginning of the 20th Century Polish farm workers came to Denmark as seasonal workers to work in the sugar beet industry. A large part of them came to Denmark during the First World War. Julia was one of them. When we meet her in 1991, Julia is 93-year-old Julia. Julia was born in the Ukraine, which at that time was a part of Poland.
Paulina born in Sarajevo
In 1992 the Balkan Civil War started in the former Yugoslavia. A war, which is as remote to Paulina as it, is to any other Dane - but there is a difference all the same. Paulina was born and brought up in the Balkan city of Sarajevo; but after twenty-five years in Denmark she feels Danish. When she arrived in Denmark there were lots of Yugoslav immigrants who had come here to find work; and like Paulina, they rapidly assimilated into the Danish society.
Fighting against Windwills
After the Second World War most people thought that now persecution of the Jews and anti-Semitism had come to a stop. But after the Polish student rebellion in 1968 an anti-Semitic political hunt re-started. The film tells the story of a group of Polish Jews, who were thrown out of Poland during that period.
Unknown Earth
More and more of the Turks who once came to Denmark as foreign guest workers wish to be buried in Turkey. Danish funeral ceremonies clash in many ways with Turkish religion and culture, so even though a Muslim may be buried anywhere on earth, more and more are choosing to be flown taken home for the last journey.
The Art of Survival
The documentary The Art of Survival is the story about the Iranian boy, Hamid. Hamid is one of the 200 children who arrive in Denmark each year as unaccompanied refugees.
